Furniture Design Cosmos Table Clock by Tong Jin (TJ) Kim The Cosmos, a clock, designed to be a centerpiece of a table. It's inspiration came from the orbits of the earth and the moon traveling through space in perfect balance. The larger sphere represents the earth, indicating hours. The smaller sphere represents the moon, indicating minutes. A ceramic plate has ripples in a perfectly smooth surface, allowing friction-less motion. The sphere rolls along the concentric ripples following magnets attached to a clock mechanism under the ceramic plate. The spheres depict the time of day with gradual and relative movement.
